To celebrate the 150th anniversary of this historic Ternate publication and Indonesia’s diversity as its stimulus, the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI)—together with The Wallacea Foundation (TWF), the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and Conservation International (CI) Indonesia— have organized an international conference on Alfred Russel Wallace and The Wallacea. Fittingly, the conference will take place in Makassar, the gate city to the Wallacea featured extensively in Wallace’s “The Malay Archipelago”.
